Rheview #7 Positif (2020): Another COVID-related short movie

 Another short movie rheview

Hello, and thanks for stopping by~ Today I'd watched Positif since it's been on my YouTube's suggestion for several days and I can't hold back anymore to not watch this, and surprisingly, it's pretty decent! Okay let's get things started!

Positif (2020) is another Indonesian short movie that entertains and educates people at the same time. Well, most of the scenes are entertaining, tho. Compared to another COVID-related short movie that I'd reviewed (Sepuluh meter), this really highlights the entertainment.

SPOILER ALERT!!!
Tegar was a typical covidiot who do not believe in covid and think that the pandemic is a mere elite propaganda. It turns out Tegar was positive and have to be isolated in a quarantine house(? I don't know the right English word for this). In a nutshell, the movie is about how Tegar ends up in a quarantine house, until he comes back to his own house.

The character development is actually following 5 stages of grief. If you haven't known it yet, you will see Tegar changing his mind rapidly, which actually a normal response in daily life. Moreover, if you ever got grief and did not pass any of these stages, you actually did not pass the grief.
1. Denial. Tegar is in this stage for a very long time, maybe half of the movie? He denies that he is "Positif" since he feels like he's in his best health condition.
2. Anger. Tegar's boredness eventually leads him to anger. He even yells to his wife, throws away his foods, etc.
3. Bargaining. Tegar asks the guard of the quarantine house to help him escape the place by bribing him, which obviously refused by the guard.
4. Depression. To be honest, I don't find any of the depression stage, but maybe the scene that Tegar wants to run away from the quarantine house is expected to be the depression stage. But, I feel like it's "forced" in a negative way. The movie absurdly changes to horror.
5. Acceptance. For me, the acceptance part is NOT because of the grief, but there's another factor which fasten the grief process (his wife is pregnant). BUT, as this is supposed to be natural and not everyone will face the same external factor, fewer people will relate to this problem.

It has several "whattttt?!" moments, but didn't reduce its overall rating:
- After Tegar takes off his non-rebreathing mask, and the doctor rebukes him not to do so, Tegar agrees but still didn't use it anyway.
- Sudden transition to horror scene for a couple of seconds. That's a bit random tho. At least for me.

Rate:
8/10 Rhecommended as an educational comedy short movie~ Very relatable with Indonesian society.
