Rheview #9 Ralph Breaks the Internet (, literally) (2018): ... and his mental issue

 Welcome to the internet!

As a daily user in this internet of things era, we're not that unfamiliar with the internet itself. But, it's not Ralph's case. Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018) is a sequel from 6 years ago's movie, Wreck-it-Ralph (2012). I watched the prior nearly a year after the release date, and almost forget the main problem and solution of that movie, entirely. What left in my memory is that Vanellope befriended the big-destroyer Ralph. Before I forget the sequel, let's jump into the main discussion!

For a big-boy who never have a friend before, Ralph enjoyed spending every night in six years with Vanellope, the Sugar Crash racer. Contradict with her "hero", she was starting to feel bore and seek more adventurous tracks, not the repetitious ones. After the two destroy Sugar Crush's steering wheel, Vanellope felt depressed and starting to glitching again. Ralph's insecurity started when Vanellope said that being his best friend is not enough, she wanted to be a racer. In order to put a smile on his best friend's mouth, Ralph brought Vanellope to find their way into the internet to buy the one and only steering wheel on eBay, which eventually they did.

On the internet, everything feels so amazing, the ads, the pop-ups, the scams, the everything. They were also pretty adaptable with this new technology, except for the concept of money and bid. Well, those are not "technology" though. After they "win" the bid, they need to find their money through "treasure hunting" as their first attempt. Entering Slaughter Race was mandatory to find that rare treasure so they can redeem that item to pay their bid. Although failing to get what they want, they encountered a fellow racer girl who wants to help them find their money but not with 'stealing' items, but with the internet's most popular way to find money, yes, you guess it right, viral videos.

After creating a viral video, they indeed got money in an hour more than us in a month :') but that was not enough. They meet The Algorithm who wanted to help them create money (and also traffic to her website). One of the main lessons that I learned from this scene was about the first rule of the internet: do not look at the comment section. In 2021, this is REALLY a related thing (also in 2018). People can be so mean, and by knowing that fact--if we cannot manage our emotions--we should follow that first rule.

After watching that comment section, tests of faith on friendship were tested. For me, how they describe true friendship and not to be a toxic friend was accurate. Here are several quotes (searched from the internet, of course)
1. All friendships change. But the good ones, they get stronger because of it. - Shank
I can not agree with this more. Several lives challenge occurred in my life that also associated with my best friend. Many ups and downs happened, we yelled and even cried together. We changed--definitely--towards better people.
2. Yeah, he might, but you guys, you’ll talk, you’ll work it out, you’ll figure it out. - Shank
Gosh! Shank was really the most badass character in this movie! I love her! This relates with the previous quote, also by her. Only assuming makes our brains (AND FEELINGS) hurt. Please, people, do talk with your beloved ones. Value your relationship by giving them an honest talk.

The main disadvantage of this movie is that we require to watch other Disney movies to maximize "easter egg" jokes, especially the princesses scene. Furthermore, many pop and internet cultures were brought to the film, and sometimes I don't get it (well, I'm not that pro on the internet, tho). I mean, Disney usually introduces us to something they want to bring, but in here, they only make them as an inside joke :(

As a conclusion

This movie is a real must-to-watch movie for everyone who suffers from a toxic relationship. And if they watch it together with their own relation, it's even better. Breaks your mental and relationship issues. I hope you can live in this internet live~💨
9/10 Rhecommended!💥💜
